Spinney Abbey Farm Wedding Photographer – Danika and Lloyd
What an absolute joy it was to capture Danika and Lloyd’s wedding at the beautiful Spinney Farm in Ely. From start to finish, their day was packed with laughter, love, and a sprinkle of rustic charm that made my photographer’s heart skip a beat. I mean, hay bales as seating? Come on, you can’t get more authentic than that!
Spinney Abbey Farm – A rustic Cambridge setting
Spinney Farm, nestled in Cambridgeshire’s countryside, was the perfect backdrop for their rustic, autumn-themed day. If you haven’t been, Spinney Farm’s history dates back to 1217 when it was originally built for Augustinian Friars. The farmhouse standing today was built in 1775, but beneath it lies the original priory cellar with medieval stonework and iron fittings – adding just the right amount of character to the place. It’s easy to see why Danika and Lloyd fell in love with it.
A Ceremony to Remember
Danika and Lloyd’s outdoor ceremony was everything you’d imagine from a Cambridge countryside wedding – relaxed, intimate, and filled with personal touches. The hay bales made for a quirky, rustic seating arrangement, and the autumnal colours gave everything that warm, golden glow. And yes, the sign that read “Danika’s wedding featuring Lloyd” got a few chuckles – setting the tone for the fun, laid-back day ahead.
Their handsome hound even got in on the action, donning a bow tie and stealing the show. Safe to say, everyone (including the dog) looked dapper.
Let the festivities begin
As the day rolled into the evening, the vibe shifted from heartfelt vows to full-on party mode. Guests were treated to a hog roast by The Spitting Pig, which went down an absolute treat – nothing says celebration like crispy crackling and piles of apple sauce. The dance floor opened with Danika and Lloyd’s first dance to “At Last” by Etta James at 6.30pm, and from that moment on, it was non-stop action.
A photo booth kept guests entertained (and slightly ridiculous), and there were some killer dance moves making their debut under the disco lights.
Golden hour portraits
One of my favourite parts of the day was sneaking off with Danika and Lloyd during golden hour. The surrounding farmland and rolling countryside provided the perfect backdrop for their couple portraits. The soft autumn light wrapped around them, and we captured some seriously stunning moments that I know they’ll cherish for years to come.
