NEIL SENIOR – Norfolk wedding photographer
Award Winning Pentney Abbey Wedding Photographer in Norfolk
Maria and Sam’s day at Pentney Abbey
If you’ve ever been to a wedding at Pentney Abbey in Norfolk, you’ll know it’s one of those places that makes my job as a wedding photographer an absolute dream. Whether it’s blue skies or a classic British drizzle, this venue always delivers. Add a couple as easy-going and full of laughter as Maria and Sam, and you’ve got yourself a day that practically photographs itself.

a norfolk setting that never disappoints
Tucked away in the Norfolk countryside, Pentney Abbey is the kind of venue that feels like it’s been lifted straight out of a storybook. The historic gatehouse, ancient stone walls, and sweeping grounds make it a perfect backdrop for documentary-style wedding photography – the sort that captures real moments, not staged ones.
Maria and Sam said they were instantly drawn to the gatehouse when they visited, and I can’t blame them. It’s where history meets romance – and it photographs beautifully from every angle.

Happy-go-Lucky Love
When I asked Maria and Sam to describe themselves in one word, they went for “happy-go-lucky” – and honestly, that sums them up perfectly. From the morning preparations to the evening party, they took the day as it came, laughing their way through every moment.
There’s something really refreshing about photographing couples who aren’t trying to make everything picture-perfect. They simply enjoyed being together, surrounded by their favourite people, and that kind of energy shines through in every image.

Family, Friends and a Proper Celebration
The couple told me that what mattered most to them was celebrating with family and friends – and that was clear from the start. The courtyard buzzed with chatter and clinking glasses, and the barn was filled with the kind of joyful noise you only get when everyone’s genuinely having a good time.
The speeches had the perfect mix of laughter (and a few misty eyes), and as the evening rolled in, a live band took over to keep the dance floor full. There’s nothing better than a good Norfolk knees-up to finish off a wedding day, and Maria and Sam’s guests did not disappoint.

Why I Love Photographing Weddings at Pentney Abbey
As a Norfolk wedding photographer, Pentney Abbey is one of those venues that never loses its magic. The light hits differently depending on the season, the architecture always adds texture and drama, and the surrounding countryside offers endless opportunities for those quiet, in-between moments I love to capture.
Maria and Sam’s day had all the elements that make wedding photography so rewarding – emotion, laughter, connection, and a cracking setting to tie it all together.
