Award Winning Sheene Mill Wedding Photographer
Some wedding days just feel right from the moment you arrive. Aron and Catherine’s day at Sheene Mill was exactly that. Calm. Thoughtful. Full of meaning. And quietly joyful from start to finish.
These two describe themselves as a team, and it showed in everything they planned. Nothing felt rushed or forced. Just people they love, a beautiful riverside setting, and a day designed to be shared.

GETTING READY
The morning had a lovely, unhurried feel. Catherine spent her prep time tucked away with her bridesmaids, laughter drifting through the room as final touches came together. Over in another part of the venue, Aron was getting ready with his family, soaking it all in with a mix of excitement and calm.
I love these moments. They’re full of anticipation, but also grounding. Perfect for natural, storytelling photographs.

The Ceremony at SHEENE MILL
The ceremony itself was one of the most meaningful I’ve photographed. Aron and Catherine chose a handfasting ceremony, and invited all of their guests to be part of it.
One by one, friends and family came forward to add their ribbon to the knot. Some handwritten. Some carefully chosen. All full of love. There was no sense of formality here — just connection. Guests smiling, laughing, and taking their time. Exactly as it should be.
There was also a wedding newspaper making the rounds, giving people something personal to read and chat about while they waited. A brilliant idea, and such a nice way to keep things relaxed.

DRINKS, CANAPÉS AND COLIN THE CATERPILLAR
After the ceremony, everyone flowed straight into the drinks reception. No awkward gaps. No rushing about. Just good conversation, games, and a display of photographs showing Aron and Catherine through the years.
When guests later found their seats for the wedding breakfast, they were met with something really special. Instead of standard place names, each guest received a handwritten letter from the couple. Watching people open them, read quietly, then look up smiling or emotional, was one of my favourite moments of the day.
The cake cut was… iconic. Yes, it was that Colin the Caterpillar cake. Fun, nostalgic, and completely fitting for the vibe of the day.
From there, the evening unfolded into dancing, arcade games, a photo booth, and informal food that meant something to the couple — pizza and fish and chips, a nod to their first date. Honest, joyful, and very them.

FINAL THOUGHTS
Aron and Catherine chose Sheene Mill because of their love for nature and water, and you could feel that connection all day long. It’s a venue that allows space to breathe, wander, and simply be present — and that’s exactly what they did.
