NEIL SENIOR – documentary wedding photographer
Sam and Laura’s Unconventional Cambridge Wedding
Hello lovely folks! Today I’m thrilled to whisk you away on a little journey through the enchanting day that was Sam and Laura’s wedding. As a wedding photographer rooted in the charming landscapes of East Anglia, capturing love stories in places like Cambridge and Cambridgeshire is what makes my heart sing. And oh, what a song Sam and Laura’s day composed!
The perfect wedding venue in cambridgeshire
Nestled in the heart of Cambridgeshire, Sheene Mill in Royston set the stage for this couple’s unforgettable day. With its rustic vibes and intimate settings, surrounded by the serene beauty of a pavilion and pond, it was clear why this spot was the one for them. Sam and Laura, a pair who pride themselves on their low-key nature, decided to tread their path down the aisle, together. It was a powerful statement of unity and shared joy, encapsulating their desire to experience every moment with their loved ones.
breaking traditions
Now, let’s talk traditions, or in this case, the lack thereof. This fabulous duo opted out of the conventional first dance and cake cutting, inviting everyone to hit the dance floor in a collective celebration of their union. How wonderfully inclusive!
a warm welcome
Getting ready at the venue itself, Sam and Laura were the epitome of welcoming hosts, greeting guests right at the door. Their ceremony, held under the beautiful pavilion, was a spectacle of love and happiness, adorned with vibrant blooms courtesy of Verdila Flowers, a personal touch from the groom’s mum.
candid moments and group photos
Following the ceremony, it was time for canapés, drinks, and congratulations, leading into a few group shots. Remember, I always advocate for keeping these to a minimum to savour the essence of the day (eight is the magic number!).
Stealing the couple away for some portrait time is always a highlight for me. It’s during these moments, as they bask in each other’s company, that the magic truly happens. Candid moments abound as I take a step back, allowing them to immerse in their new beginning.
evening fun
As dusk embraced us, the fun unfolded with games in the conservatory. Watching Laura and Sam lead the revelry was a delight, perfectly setting the tone for the evening’s festivities. And what an evening it was! With a temporary tattoo bar, glow sticks galore, an open photobooth by Glitz ‘n’ Glamour, soulful tunes from Soul75, and a silent disco by Silent Noize, the night was alive with joy and laughter.
Capturing these moments in Cambridge and the broader Cambridgeshire region is not just a job for me; it’s a passion. Sam and Laura’s day was a beautiful reminder of why I love being a wedding photographer. Their celebration was uniquely theirs, filled with personality, love, and a dash of Northern wit (yours truly!).
