How to Nail your Wedding Proposal Photographs

As the festive season approaches, love is in the air, and what better time to pop the big question? Capturing your wedding proposal moment is a must. But, don’t panic, because I’m here to share my top 10 tips to ensure you nail your wedding proposal pictures without breaking a sweat!

  1. Pick Your Location

First things first, choose the perfect location that reflects your love story. Whether it’s where you had your first date or a scenic spot on the beach with a beautiful backdrop, the right location sets the scene for an unforgettable proposal.

2. Time It Right

Consider the essence you’d like to capture in your proposal photos. Are you after that gorgeous golden sunset glow, wintry morning mist or a crisp sunny day? Whatever you’re thinking, talk to your photographer about the best time to ensure you have the perfect natural light for your pictures. After all, you don’t want to look back at your photos and squint in regret!

3. Make Sure It’s Top Secret

Proposing is a delicate operation. Coordinate with your photographer like a secret agent, so they can be incognito and capture the genuine reactions without raising any suspicions.

4. Delegate Ring Box Duty

Delegate the crucial task of holding the engagement ring box to a friend or family member. This keeps your hands free for the most important job: getting down on one knee!

5. Embrace The Element of Surprise

Let the element of surprise work its magic. Don’t stress about setting up the perfect shot – that’s what I’m there for!

6. Paparazzi-Style Proposals

Paparazzi-style proposals are all the rage. Consider going down the route of having natural, documentary style photos rather than staged photos looking directly down the lens. Not only are candid photos more relaxed and easy going for you, they also add an exciting, cinematic touch to your proposal.

7. Introduce Yourself

Have a quick chat with your photographer before the shoot. I always like to get to know my couples a little better beforehand. Having a snippet of background information on your wonderful love story allows me to create more of a natural vibe. It also creates more of a fun and relaxed atmosphere for couples.

8. Share Your Ideas

If you have specific shots or ideas in mind, share them with your photographer. While candid photos are great, I’m 100% on board to capture any of your quirky and quaint photos too! There’s no better time to express yourselves and have a bit of fun.

9. Keep It Casual

Let your personalities shine! The best photos come from genuine interactions and shared laughter. So, keep it casual, fun, and true to who you are as a couple. Top tip: Bring your dog along to really bring your photos to life! Natural photos of couples with their dogs playing ball, running through the sand or having a cuddle always make for wonderful photos.

10. Let Me Capture The Moment

Consider having a professional photographer on hand. I specialise in creating heartfelt, documentary-style photos that capture the raw emotions of your proposal. Don’t miss the chance to capture your love story in all its authenticity.
