Eco-Friendly Wedding Photography in Cambridge
Hi folks! Today, I want to share a story about a wonderful eco-friendly wedding I recently shot in the beautiful city of Cambridge.
A Cambridge love story
Leia and Peter tied the knot on 4th May 2024, at the charming Cambridge Registry Office on Ascham Road. The couple embraced the eco-friendly ethos by incorporating sustainable practices throughout their special day. This not only made their wedding unique but also meaningful, reflecting their commitment to the environment.
morning preparations
Leia began her day at home, surrounded by loved ones, while Peter got ready at his parents’ house. The morning was filled with excitement and a few happy tears. I love capturing these intimate moments – the quiet before the joyous storm. Leia’s dress, a stunning piece from Shades of White in St Ives, Cambridgeshire by designer Wendy Makin, looked absolutely breathtaking.
ceremony at cambridge registry office
The ceremony kicked off at 13:45 at the Cambridge Registry Office. With 50 close friends and family members in attendance, it was a heartfelt and intimate affair. The love and unity between Leia and Peter were palpable, perfectly captured in every photograph.
reception at the boot, histon
The reception took place at The Boot, a cosy venue on 1 High Street, Histon. This place has a warm, relaxed vibe with fantastic seasonal food, making it an ideal choice for Leia and Peter. The drinks reception started at 15:00, and guests enjoyed mingling and celebrating with the happy couple.
Leia and Peter made their day meaningful by incorporating personal touches and local suppliers. They made their own wedding rings at an independent workshop and chose wedding favours like origami bears crafted by Leia and jars of honey from a friend of Peter’s dad in Cambridge. Even the guestbook was a handmade treasure by a friend. These small details made the day even more special and memorable.
fun, music and more
The wedding breakfast, a delicious three-course dinner, began at 16:00, followed by speeches that had everyone laughing and crying. A jazz band set the perfect tone for the evening, adding a touch of elegance and fun. As the night went on, more live music, cake cutting, and evening food kept the party lively.
sustainable celebrations
As a sustainable wedding photographer, I’m always thrilled to see couples taking eco-friendly steps. With every wedding booking, I plant a tree in partnership with Carbon Neutral Britain & Trees for Life. Leia and Peter’s efforts to source locally and reduce waste aligned perfectly with this mission. From the flowers grown for table decorations to the local, seasonal menu at The Boot, their wedding was a testament to what can be achieved when we prioritise sustainability.
