10 Must-Ask Questions for your Wedding Photographer
Are you at the exciting point of booking your wedding photographer? I’m here to help guide you through 10 things to ask your wedding photographer before you book them.
This isn’t just about finding someone who’s handy with a camera – it’s about snagging a wedding photographer who’s a perfect fit for you and your other half.
1. HOW LONG AFTER THE WEDDING SHOULD IT TAKE UNTIL I SEE OUR SPECIAL PHOTOS?
Now, don’t be fretting about this one. A proper documentary-style photographer like me will want to make sure your photos are as polished as your wedding shoes. Usually, you’re looking at about 4 weeks, but it’s not just about speed – it’s about crafting a story of your day that’s worth the wait.
2. HOW WILL I RECEIVE IMAGES FROM OUR BIG DAY?
Gone are the days of waiting for the post person. Most photographers will pop your images on an online gallery, or if you’re lucky, you might get a snazzy USB in a fancy box. As for me, I’m all about keeping it green, so I offer a digital gallery as well as an ethically sourced printed album option. Click here to check out my packages.
3. HOW MUCH OF A DEPOSIT DO YOU REQUIRE AND WHEN IS IT DUE?
The nitty-gritty, eh? I’ll need a wee bit upfront to secure the date. You’ll pay this when you sign on the dotted line, to make sure you’re not left at the altar (so to speak).
4. HOW DO YOU MANAGE TIMELINES AND GROUP PHOTOS WITH GUESTS?
After many years of experience, I’ve got it down to a fine art! We’ll have a chinwag before the big day to make sure we’ve got a list of the group photos you’re after, and I’ll manage the troops on the day with a smile.
5. HAVE YOU EVER PHOTOGRAPHED AT MY WEDDING VENUE?
If I have, I can show you the ropes and the best spots. If not, I’ll have a good recce beforehand – I’m nosey like that. Take a look at some of my favourite Norfolk venues here!
6. DO YOU HAVE INSURANCE?
Rest easy – I’m covered. My equipment is insured, I have public liability and full professional indemnity insurance. This is one of the fundamentals of booking a professional photographer for your peace of mind.
7. WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU ARE ILL, OR THERE IS AN EMERGENCY?
Touch wood it never happens, but if I’m laid up, I’ve got a solid gang of pro photographer mates who can step in. They’re all top-notch, so you’ll be in good hands.
8. CAN I VIEW SOME COMPLETED ALBUMS?
